About the Artist

Rachel White is a 27 year old self-employed graphic designer/artist/wannabe writer of fiction. She lives in suburbia with her husband and evil black cat.

She attended Augustana College for a few years, and had two different majors (Classics and English).  She then had a bit of a 'what am I going to do with an English degree' breakdown, and decided that there wasn't enough art in her life, so transferred to Columbia College in Chicago to study photography.  This too, proved an ill fit.  She had little patience for the 'tudes of her fellow artists and professors, and for the 'living in the past' approach to her photographic education.  So there Rachel was, with 5 years of higher education under her belt and no pretty piece of paper to show for it.

She then found CafePress and unleashed her inner t-shirt designer.  This went all right for a few years, and then CP decided that Rachel was earning too much money for her work, and cut her commission.  So Rachel made the move to Zazzle.  And boy, is she glad she did.  Zazzle makes paper products!  Business cards, invitations and stationery!  This was exciting, because Rachel was starting to run out of funny ideas for t-shirts.

Rachel has found much enjoyment designing wedding invitations for happy brides (for is there any happier girl on the planet than one who is getting married?) and enjoys working with them to create the perfect invitation for their special event.

Rachel plans to (someday, eventually, when she has the time) to sell some stock vector art, open a shop on etsy and hock her sculptures and paintings, and maybe write a trashy romance novel, or if she's feeling ambitious a YA Fantasy Epic, probably not about vampires.

While invitation designing (attempts) to pay the bills, Rachel also enjoys painting, photography (sometimes), sculpture, drawing, sewing, cooking, and fiction writing (of the fan variety).  She can't seem to choose just one, so spreads herself a little thin attempting them all.
